If you have read my book Warfare in Atlantic Africa, 1400-1800 (University College of London Press, 1999) you can see that I noted connections between war and factions in Timbuktu and the Moroccan Pashalik in that region, again, not my main purposed in the book, but a way of looking at it. There is also a local chronicle, written in Arabic and translated into French....
